Unique Page Titles

A page title is often the same as the heading. It is not seen on the page, but screen readers and bots find it useful.

The <title> element:

  • provides a title for the page when it is added to favourites
  • displays a title for the page in search-engine results

Each content page in your local offer should be about one thing. And only one thing. And the title must reflect that.

When Google bots find a page that seems to answer the user's question, they sometimes create a "snippet" like this:

Here we searched for "croydon local offer" and the title of the page is clearly seen with the URL beneath it. But also Google has created a snippet, and given the "answer" to the question in a featured snippet because they know the answer is there.

This sometimes means that people can find the answer FROM your website without actually going TO your website.

That saves them time, and it means you've done a good job.
